Delhi Traffic Police will provide great relief to the general public. Now, the facility to pay challans through the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) on all UPI platforms will be available. This will allow challans to be paid in seconds on apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay even without cash. This step is taken to increase convenience for people, strengthen digital governance, and promote cashless transactions.

The Delhi Traffic Police have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI), with Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic Headquarters) Satyavir Katara signing the agreement. Officials stated that after the completion of documentation and procedural formalities, technical integration with BBPS will commence soon. Once the challan is received, citizens will no longer need to visit the police station or bank for cash payments. Quick payments via UPI will save time and eliminate concerns about cash shortages.

This initiative will give a major boost to the Government of India's 'Digital India' vision. Simplifying the payment process will increase transparency and encourage digital transactions. Millions of drivers in Delhi will benefit directly, especially during peak hours or in cashless situations. Once this facility is fully operational, citizens will have a more convenient experience, according to the traffic police.

This decision by the Delhi Police will accelerate the Digital India campaign and make traffic management in the city more efficient. Citizens can now easily pay fines by scanning UPI, reducing the burden of paperwork.

Summary

• UPI payment facility started for traffic challans in Delhi
• Direct payment via Paytm, PhonePe, GPay through BBPS
