Gas Cylinder Rates : Significant Drop in Gas Cylinder Prices Offers Relief to Business Owners

Oil marketing companies have reduced the prices of cylinders for commercial customers in July and know what changes have been made to the prices of domestic cylinders.

Oil marketing companies have announced a significant reduction in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, bringing much-needed relief to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and other commercial establishments. Effective from today, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been slashed by ₹58.50 across major cities including Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Delhi. This move, however, comes with a caveat — no changes have been made to the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, leaving household consumers without any relief this month.

LPG prices in India are revised on the first day of every month based on various global and domestic factors such as international crude oil prices, the strength of the Indian rupee, and market conditions. Accordingly, oil marketing companies have adjusted the rate of commercial cylinders, making them more affordable for business use. In Mumbai, for instance, the price of a commercial cylinder has dropped from ₹1,674.50 to ₹1,616. This reduction follows a similar price cut on June 1, when the cost was lowered by ₹24.

While commercial users stand to benefit significantly, especially those in the hospitality sector, domestic users continue to pay the existing rates for household LPG. This selective price change has raised hopes that a reduction in domestic cylinder rates may follow in the coming months if international and domestic market conditions remain favorable. For now, the July price revision offers financial relief to the commercial sector, particularly in metro cities where gas consumption by businesses is consistently high.
