Direct contest between C.P. Radhakrishnan and former Justice Sudarshan Reddy in the election

Commentary on the Vice Presidential Election from Saamana

(Saamana Editorial) The voting process for the Vice President position will take place today, Tuesday, September 9, 2025. In this election, there is a direct contest between NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan and India Alliance candidate former Justice Sudarshan Reddy. In this context, commentary has been made in Saamana. It is stated in Saamana that 'Narendra Modi and his party follow Hindu customs and traditions. At least for Hindu votes, they seem to make such a display. They follow auspicious times, muhurats, almanacs, etc. According to Hindu tradition, no auspicious work is done during the Pitru Paksha period, but the election for India's Vice President is taking place during Pitru Paksha. Until now, even the BJP-backed Election Commission held all elections at the muhurat set by Modi-Shah, but to elect the country's Vice President, everyone together chose a muhurat during Pitru Paksha. Especially NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan is a long-time worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a staunch Hindutva proponent. Therefore, this muhurat is surprising. Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was forced to resign abruptly by Modi-Shah. Dhankhar cited health reasons, which is false. Dhankhar's health was perfectly fine. Our former Vice President has not been seen by anyone even a month after his resignation. There were discussions about where he is. It has been reported that Dhankhar is now at a farmhouse in the Chhatarpur area, 24 kilometers from Delhi, meaning he is still in an undisclosed location. Dhankhar is still under complete surveillance today. Even his relatives are not allowed to meet him. This has happened in the case of the former Vice President. Therefore, the newly elected Vice President should be extremely cautious. Of course, if the Vice President does not want to disappear, then the MPs who are proponents of democracy and freedom should vote for the opposition candidate, former Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, and elect him.'

'Members of both houses of Parliament vote for the Vice Presidential election. A total of 781 members from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will vote. The election will be between C. P. Radhakrishnan and former Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy. This is the first time such an exciting contest is happening for the Vice Presidency. The BJP does not have its own majority. Therefore, they will have to rely on allies. The BJP fights all elections from local bodies to the Lok Sabha by misusing the system and using money bags, and takes control of the election machinery. The Vice President is a constitutional position. If inducements are being offered to break or buy the votes of other MPs in this election, it is shameful, but the connection of morality, shame, etc., with BJP's politics was severed ten years ago. If Modi and his party claim to have enough majority, then why is there a need for this manipulation? This is the question. The reason is that everything does not seem fine within the BJP. The dictator is currently scared. When a dictator becomes mentally unstable, the first rebellions occur among the slaves he has created. Listening to the voice of the soul is our moral responsibility, as appealed by the opposition candidate, former Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, which is indeed true.'

It further states, 'On the other hand, the Governor of Maharashtra (who is a candidate of Modi-Shah), C. P. Radhakrishnan, does not have his own opinion or thoughts. Radhakrishnan only says how great Modi is and how Modi has made the country great. During Modi's time, by placing insignificant people in key constitutional positions, the country has suffered immense damage. There is no intention to insult anyone, but how can one deny the truth that people were chosen and stuck to those positions with the policy that those in the highest constitutional positions should be subservient? The sentiment of Modi and his people is that even those in such positions should stand up when told to 'stand' and sit down when told to 'sit'. Therefore, they do not accept any person with a backbone. Vice President Dhankhar remained in position as long as he was bending. As soon as Dhankhar tried to stand a little upright, he was 'dealt with' and permanently disappeared. Until Dhankhar is seen publicly, this will have to be said. Dhankhar had to leave the Vice Presidency and Delhi. Radhakrishnan was probably chosen only after the new Vice President was trained on how to behave tomorrow. This is what has been said in 'Saamana'.
