Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made serious allegations against the country's election machinery, claiming it has become ineffective. Speaking at the seminar "Challenges Before the Constitution" at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on Saturday, he strongly criticized the Election Commission. Rahul Gandhi said, "The credibility of the country's democratic institutions is at risk. He also alleged that there were many irregularities in the previous Lok Sabha elections." At the same time, he claimed that Congress's investigation revealed that out of 6.5 lakh voters in a constituency in Karnataka, about 1.5 lakh voters were fake.

"We will soon disclose this information. That information will be like an atomic bomb," said Rahul Gandhi, expressing distrust in the election system. He also clarified that, according to him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power with a very slim majority, and he suspected manipulation in some votes. In his opinion, irregularities might have occurred in 70 to 100 seats. At this time, when activists in the assembly chanted, "How should the country's king be, he should be like Rahul Gandhi," Rahul immediately calmed them down and replied, "I don't want to be a king. I oppose the very concept of monarchy."

In the discussion session, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also criticized the Election Commission, accusing it of being under Prime Minister Modi's control. Criticizing the Modi government, he said that protecting the Constitution is now the responsibility of every Congress worker. Meanwhile, responding to Rahul Gandhi's allegations, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh referred to Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament on 'Operation Sindoor' as a 'damp squib' and challenged him to present evidence.

While speaking at an event organized in the city of Patna, Bihar, he took a jab at Rahul Gandhi saying, “Be careful not to injure yourself while detonating the evidence bomb.” Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders are consistently questioning the Election Commission, while BJP leaders are giving strong responses to those allegations. In the backdrop of the upcoming elections, this series of accusations and counter-accusations is likely to intensify. It has become extremely necessary for questions to be raised about the transparency of the Election Commission and for open discussions to take place to maintain public trust in the democratic process.
