Pune Weather Today: Unseasonal Rain Hits Pune, Airport Area Floode

Unseasonal rains lashed Pune, waterlogging the airport area and disrupting normal life.

Unseasonal heavy rain lashed Pune on Monday afternoon, leading to severe waterlogging in several parts of the city, including the Pune International Airport area. The sudden downpour, which lasted for about an hour, disrupted normal life and raised serious concerns about urban infrastructure.

A significant amount of water accumulated around the main entrance of the Pune airport, causing major inconvenience to passengers. The chambers near the entry gate overflowed, and due to an ineffective drainage system, water spread across the road, forcing travelers to wade through it.

Notably, the new terminal at the airport, inaugurated just a few months ago, failed to prevent flooding, prompting questions about the adequacy of the newly developed facilities.

Elsewhere in the city, residents of a housing society in the Dhanori area reported water entering homes. Citizens rushed to the scene and struggled for hours to pump out the water, highlighting the impact on daily life.

Several other areas, including Swargate, Fatimanagar, Hadapsar, and Shivajinagar, experienced similar weather conditions. The intensity of the rain rendered many roads impassable, leading to significant traffic disruptions and widespread inconvenience.

With unseasonal rainfall continuing across the state, the situation in Pune has further aggravated challenges for residents. Waterlogging in low-lying areas remains a pressing issue, affecting transportation and daily routines.
