In the wake of the arrest of Rajendra and Sushil Hagawane—the prime accused in the murder of Vaishnavi Hagawane—her grieving father, Anil Kaspate, made an emotional appeal during a conversation with Lokshahi Marathi, demanding stringent action against those responsible. Speaking for the first time since the arrest, Anil Kaspate expressed deep anguish and called for the invocation of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MOCA) against the accused. “Mere arrest is not enough,” he said, holding back tears. “There should be a thorough investigation, and a strict law like MOCA must be applied. Such ruthless individuals deserve the harshest punishment.”

Kaspate also shared plans to meet Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, to submit a memorandum requesting strong legal action. “We will ask Dada not to allow any VIP treatment for the accused. They must be dealt with strictly according to the law,” he said firmly. Reflecting on the events following his daughter’s death, Kaspate voiced his outrage at the alleged behavior of the accused. “It is a shameful sight that while my daughter was murdered, these heartless people were enjoying themselves in a hotel, eating mutton,” he said. “I want nothing more than justice for Vaishnavi.”

Kaspate also spoke fondly of Mayuri Jagtap, who visited the family the day after Vaishnavi’s death. “Mayuri is like a second Vaishnavi to me. She told me, ‘I will always stand by you,’ and that gives me strength,” he shared. He further highlighted the emotional toll the case has taken on his family. “Hospitals, courts, police stations—these were all unknown to us. But now, due to this tragedy, we are forced to confront them.”

A heartfelt plea was also made regarding Vaishnavi’s child. “The custody of Vaishnavi’s child must remain with our family. We hope the court will grant us this justice,” Kaspate said. Meanwhile, the accused, Rajendra and Sushil Hagawane, are scheduled to be produced before the Shivajinagar court at 2 p.m. today. The case continues to draw significant public attention, as calls grow louder for justice and accountability.
