The last month of the year 2024, December will end in a few days. The new year will start thereafter. Banks will remain closed for 16 days in January 2026. This includes public holidays, Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays. January 26 will be a holiday for Republic Day. The fourth Saturday is January 24 and January 25 is a Sunday. People will get a long weekend to plan travel or outings with family. In addition to the regular weekend closures, banks will remain closed in many states due to public holidays.

The Reserve Bank has divided bank holidays into three categories. Holidays and Real Time Gross Settlement holidays are under the Negotiable Instruments Act. All three categories of holidays are coming next month. Therefore, if you have any important banking work, you will need to keep the RBI holiday calendar in mind.
