It has come to light that many beneficiaries in the Chief Minister's Ladaki Bahin Yojna include ineligible women. During verification in the district, duplicate names were found and due to incomplete criteria, as many as sixteen hundred women's names have been removed from the beneficiary list. The administration has expressed the possibility that this number may decrease further once the e-KYC process is completed in the coming period.

Against the backdrop of the assembly elections, the state’s grand alliance government announced the 'Ladki Behen' scheme. Several rules and conditions were imposed when launching the scheme. Every month, 1500 rupees began to be directly deposited into the bank accounts of women residents of Maharashtra aged 21 to 65. The government had set clear eligibility criteria to provide the benefits.

It was clarified that married, widowed, and divorced women could apply. Additionally, it was included that the woman's family should not have an annual income exceeding 2.5 lakh rupees, should not own a four-wheeler, and a maximum of two women from one family could receive the benefits.

Even so, it has come to light that many have taken advantage of the scheme by providing incorrect information. Therefore, verification was conducted at the local level. After verification, the process of excluding ineligible beneficiaries has begun. In the past few days, sixteen hundred beneficiaries have been excluded from the scheme.

The state government has temporarily suspended the e-KYC process. It is believed that the Ladki Bahini scheme was a game-changer in the assembly elections, and it is being discussed that this suspension has been given to avoid the displeasure of female voters in the context of upcoming local elections.
