2025 is about to end in a few days and we are entering 2026. Currently, there is vigorous preparation around the world to welcome the New Year. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has announced the list of public holidays for 2026. According to the notification issued under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, there will be 24 public holidays in Maharashtra in 2026. Additionally, the state government has also announced an extra holiday for Bhau Beej on November 11, 2026.

In 2026, Republic Day, starting from January 26, will mark the beginning of public holidays. In February, there will be a public holiday for Mahashivratri on February 15 and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on February 19 in the state. In March, there will be 4 public holidays. Holi on March 3, Gudi Padwa on March 19, Ramzan Eid on March 21, and Ram Navami on March 26 will be holidays.

In the month of April, Good Friday is on April 3, and a holiday has been declared in the state on April 14 for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Along with this, there will be a holiday for banks only on April 1, 2026. In May, Maharashtra Day is on May 1, Buddha Purnima is on May 1, and Bakri Eid is on May 28, for which holidays have been declared. In June, there will be a holiday on June 26 for Moharram. In August, there will be holidays on August 15 for Independence Day and Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi), and Eid-e-Milad on August 26. In September, a holiday has been declared on September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi. In October, holidays have been declared on October 2 for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and on October 20 for Dussehra.

In the month of November, holidays have been declared for Lakshmi Puja on November 8, Diwali on November 10, and Bhau Beej on November 11 (additional holiday), and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24. In December, a holiday has been declared for Christmas on December 25.
