The beginning of February and the presentation of the 2026 central budget on the same day will bring many changes for the common people. From cooking gas to air travel, tobacco products, drivers, and banking transactions, at least five important rules will change from February 1, 2026. These changes will have a direct impact on household budgets and daily expenses.

Change in LPG Gas Cylinder Prices

On the first day of every month, oil marketing companies revise the prices of LPG cylinders. On February 1, the prices of domestic and commercial gas cylinders will be announced. In the backdrop of the budget, it is expected by the general public that the price of the 14 kg domestic gas cylinder will be reduced. Previously, on January 1, the price of the 19 kg commercial cylinder was reduced by ₹14.50.

Impact of ATF, CNG, and PNG Prices

New rates for Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) will be effective from February 1. Changes in ATF prices can make air tickets more expensive or cheaper. Last month, a reduction of about 7% in ATF prices provided relief to passengers. Additionally, there is a possibility of improvement in CNG and PNG prices, which will affect transportation and domestic gas expenses.

Paan Masala and Tobacco Products to Become Expensive

The government has made a significant change in the tax structure on tobacco products and paan masala. From February 1, excise duty and health and national security cess will be levied in addition to GST. As a result, prices of cigarettes, paan masala, and similar products are likely to increase.

Ease in FASTag Rules

In a decision providing relief to vehicle owners, NHAI has canceled the KYC verification process for FASTag. From February 1, 2026, obtaining new FASTag for cars, jeeps, and vans will become easier.

Bank Holidays in February

According to the list by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for a total of 10 days in February. Therefore, citizens are advised to plan important banking tasks in advance or use digital banking.
