In the most prestigious tournament of India's domestic cricket, the Ranji Trophy 2025-26, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been selected as the vice-captain of the Bihar cricket team. The team will be led by experienced batsman Sakibul Gani. This selection has been made for the first two matches, and the Bihar Cricket Association has made an official announcement.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently one of the most talked-about young cricketers in the country. His performance at a young age has been remarkable, and he is seen as a future star in Indian cricket. He made his first-class cricket debut for the Bihar team at the age of 12 years and 284 days. So far, he has played five Ranji matches, and his performance has been very promising.

Vaibhav's recent performances in international youth cricket played a significant role in his selection. While playing for India Under-19 in Australia, he scored a century off 78 balls and became the second-highest run-scorer in the series. Subsequently, in the youth ODI series in England, he set the record for the fastest century with a 143-run innings in Worcester. He scored 355 runs in that series, securing a place among the top run-scorers.

Earlier this year, while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025, Vaibhav set another record. He scored 101 runs off 38 balls, earning the title of the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket. In achieving this feat, he surpassed many legendary players.

The Bihar Cricket Association has made this selection to bring new energy to the team after the unsuccessful Ranji season. The team could not win a single match in the previous season and managed to secure only one point. As a result, the team has been sent to the Plate League. With the aim of making a comeback in the upcoming season, leadership appointments have been made balancing experience and youth.

The Bihar team's Ranji season will start on October 15 at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna against Arunachal Pradesh. However, it is not certain whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi will play the entire season, as he is likely to be selected for the Indian Under-19 World Cup. This World Cup will be held next year in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The complete team for Bihar's first two matches has been announced, including Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sakibul Gani (captain), Piyush Kumar Singh, Bhaskar Dubey, Arnav Kishore, Ayush Loharuka, Bipin Saurabh, Amod Yadav, Nawaz Khan, Sakib Hussain, Raghavendra Pratap Singh, Sachin Kumar Singh, Himanshu Singh, Khalid Alam, and Sachin Kumar.

There are high expectations from Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has taken on the responsibility at a young age, from both the Bihar team and Indian cricket fans. It is hoped that his spectacular career will help Indian cricket reach new heights in the future.
