Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces encounter terrorist in Shopian

A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist has been killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir.

An encounter between security forces and terrorists erupted early Monday morning in the Zinpather Keller area of Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir. So far, three terrorists have been reported killed in the gunfight. According to official sources, one of the slain militants is affiliated with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The encounter began following intelligence inputs regarding the presence of armed terrorists in the area.

In response, security forces swiftly cordoned off the region and launched a search operation. As the forces closed in, a fierce exchange of fire broke out, leading to the elimination of one terrorist in the initial phase. Two more were later neutralized during the continued operation. Reports suggest that additional terrorists may still be hiding in the area. The encounter is ongoing, and intermittent gunfire continues as security personnel conduct search and clearance operations.

Authorities have tightened security in and around Shopian and are maintaining high alert to prevent any further infiltration or terrorist activity in the region.
