State election commission : Administration in action mode during the code of conduct period, 38 offenses registered in municipal elections
In the backdrop of the ongoing municipal elections in the state, a large number of irregularities have been exposed during the implementation of the code of conduct. A total of 186 complaints of code of conduct violations have been filed with the State Election Commission, and during this period, cash amounting to 8 crore 32 lakh rupees has been seized from various places. Information has also emerged that 38 offenses related to the election process have been registered.
A detailed report of the actions taken by the Home Department during the code of conduct period has been submitted to the State Election Commission. This report provides details of actions taken against cash, liquor, drugs, and illegal arms stockpiles. It is clear that the administration has taken strict measures to prevent any kind of inducement, intimidation, or malpractice during the election period.
Major action on liquor, drugs, and arms stockpile
After the code of conduct was implemented, a special campaign was conducted on illegal stocks of domestic and foreign liquor. In this operation, 187,415 liters of liquor were seized, with an estimated value of 59.5 million rupees. Additionally, drugs worth 481.5 million rupees have also been seized.
Moreover, significant action has been taken against illegal weapons. During the code of conduct period, a total of 632 illegal weapons and explosives were seized, including 74 pistols and 558 sharp weapons. These actions show how seriously the administration is handling the issue of law and order during the election period.
Police Keep a Close Eye on Money Trail
To prevent the misuse of money to attract voters during the election period, the police administration has focused special attention on the 'money trail'. Suspicious financial transactions, sudden large withdrawals or distributions are being closely monitored. Sources have informed that the bank transactions of political leaders, their associates, and contractors are also being examined. These actions clearly indicate that the Election Commission, administration, and police machinery are working in coordination to ensure that elections are conducted in a free, fearless, and transparent environment.
