Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched two major schemes for the agricultural sector on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan. The total cost of these schemes is ₹35,440 crore, and their aim is to make India self-reliant in pulse production and to revive underperforming agricultural districts.
Additionally, various projects in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing were also inaugurated. According to the information received, the 'Pulse Self-Reliance Campaign' will cost 11,440 crore rupees, and the goal is to increase pulse production from the current 25.238 million tons to 35 million tons by 2030-31 to reduce the country's import dependency.
