Important decisions regarding temples, health and women taken in Ahilyanagar cabinet meeting
A significant meeting of the Maharashtra State Cabinet was convened today at 12 noon in Ahilyanagar under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The session commenced with tributes to Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar and was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with other key ministers. The cabinet meeting, held at Chowdi in Ahilyanagar, led to the approval of several landmark decisions.
Massive Allocation for Cultural Heritage and Temple Development
Among the major outcomes of the meeting, the cabinet approved a massive ₹681 crore plan for the preservation and conservation of the historic memorial of Ahilyadevi Holkar at Chaundi. In addition, extensive development plans were sanctioned for several prominent temples across Maharashtra, reflecting a strong focus on cultural revitalization:
₹147 crore for the renovation of Ashtavinayak Ganapati temples
₹259 crore for the development of Shri Jyotiba Temple
₹1,865 crore for the development of Shri Tulja Bhavani Temple
₹275 crore for the development of Trimbakeshwar Temple
₹829 crore for the development of Shri Mahurgad Temple
₹1,445 crore for the development of Shri Mahalaxmi Temple
In total, projects worth ₹5,503 crore were approved to enhance the state’s religious and heritage infrastructure.
Medical College to be Established in Ahilyanagar
Another key highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a new government medical college in Ahilyanagar. The Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar Government Medical College will be set up to expand healthcare education and services in the region. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during a press conference held alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde.
Along with this, Devendra Fadnavis further said, "We are doing the same work that Ahilya Devi did in the country on the occasion of her tercentenary through the state government. Punyashloka Ahilya Devi's life and work should be known all over the world. Therefore, we have decided to make a multilingual commercial film on her life," said Devendra Fadnavis.
Women Empowerment Gets a Boost with New Initiatives
The cabinet also approved the launch of the Adi Shakti Abhiyan, a new initiative aimed at empowering women. As part of this campaign, the Adi Shakti Awards will honor women and institutions making impactful contributions in the field of women’s welfare and empowerment.
Further, the government announced the establishment of specialized Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for girls, aiming to enhance skill development and employment opportunities for women.
