Due to widespread rain in Maharashtra, a historic flood situation has arisen in Marathwada. In this situation, everyone's attention is on the government's assistance. The government has repeatedly announced that aid will be provided according to NDRF criteria. It was also declared that if necessary, aid will be provided by setting aside the criteria. On March 27, 2023, the state government issued a government order fixing the rates of assistance to be given in emergency situations until 2026.
These are based on the central government's natural disaster criteria. Grants ranging from 5,000 to 47,000 rupees per hectare will be available for land scraping and for smallholder farmers. Grants ranging from 2,200 to 18,000 rupees per hectare will be available if more than three inches of silt accumulates on agricultural land. Assistance of 8,500 rupees per hectare will be provided for dryland farming crops and fruit crops, while 17,000 rupees per hectare assistance will be available for irrigated areas. In case of death of dairy animals, 37,500 rupees will be provided, 32,000 rupees for the death of a bull, 20,000 rupees for the death of a calf, mule, heifer, or donkey, 4,000 rupees for goats and sheep, and 100 rupees for poultry. If a house collapses, 120,000 rupees will be provided, 130,000 rupees for a collapsed raw house in hilly areas, 6,500 rupees for damage to a permanent house, 4,500 rupees for damage to a raw house, and 8,000 rupees for a collapsed hut. In case of loss of life in a flood, 400,000 rupees will be provided.
