Political accusations and counter-accusations have intensified against the backdrop of municipal elections in the state. Congress leader and former minister Vijay Wadettiwar has made a serious allegation against the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, making a big claim. “Ajit Pawar runs the government in the state, but he has been deliberately kept out of the alliance in the municipal elections. This move has been made with the intention of splitting Congress votes,” alleged Wadettiwar.

Speaking at a campaign rally organized in Chandrapur, Vadettiwar directly targeted the BJP and the ruling parties. “The government cannot function without Ajit Pawar while in power. However, in the local self-government elections, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance kept Ajit Pawar out. This is not by accident, but it has been done deliberately,” he said. He also alleged that the decision was aimed at dividing the traditional voter base of the Congress.

Vadettiwar raised questions about Ajit Pawar's secularism at this time. “How can those who are in power with communal forces be called secular?” he asked, strongly criticizing Ajit Pawar. He claimed that the Congress is a party that advocates secularism, and these political maneuvers are being planned with an eye on its votes.

Interestingly, in this election, while BJP is the main opposition, Vadettiwar targeting Ajit Pawar has surprised the political circles. According to some political analysts, the role of the NCP Ajit Pawar faction has been kept different to benefit the ruling party in the municipal elections through triangular contests. It is speculated that this could lead to a division of opposition votes, directly benefiting the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance.

Vadettiwar further stated, “The public should recognize this politics. To maintain power and weaken the opposition, the ruling party can go to any extent.” Although municipal elections are of local self-government, there is a big political calculation behind them, he also noted. Meanwhile, there has been no official response from the BJP or Ajit Pawar's group to these allegations by Vadettiwar, and these statements seem to indicate that the political atmosphere in the state is likely to heat up further.
