In 2008, all 7 accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case were recently acquitted by the special NIA court. Following this verdict, a former ATS officer involved in the investigation made a significant revelation. Retired Inspector Mehboob Mujawar stated that he was ordered to arrest Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

According to Mujawar, while investigating the blast, he was instructed to implicate Mohan Bhagwat. The purpose of these instructions was to prove 'saffron terrorism'. He alleged that false cases were filed against him for not executing these orders, tarnishing his four-decade-long career.

Mujawar's another claim is that Sandeep Dange and Ramji Kalsangra, who were clearly deceased, were included in the charge sheet as 'alive'. They were ordered to trace these suspects, and when they opposed this, pressure was exerted on them.

Mujawar stated that there were political motives behind the entire investigation by some senior officers. He also questioned former Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's statement on 'Hindu terrorism', demanding clarification from him. He firmly stated that the concept of 'saffron terrorism' was incorrect.

Welcoming the court's decision, they said, "I am happy that all the accused have been acquitted. I had a small contribution in this." They stated that this verdict has exposed the false investigation and the deliberate actions of some officers. Overall, Mehboob Mujawar's allegations have raised new questions about the investigation of the Malegaon blast and the objectives behind it. Their statement is creating a need for serious discussion and scrutiny regarding the country's security agencies.
