Demand for 'Equal Pay for Equal Work' for Contract Workers

The main demand of the BEST Workers Union is regarding the wages of contract workers employed through private companies.

Demand: Employees working through private companies like 'SMTATPL Associates', 'Mateshwari Urban Transport Solutions', 'BVG India Ltd.', 'Switch Mobility', 'Olectra' perform the same work as permanent BEST employees.

Principle: Therefore, the union has firmly demanded that these employees should be given the same pay scale and service conditions as their counterparts in BEST, according to the principle of 'Equal Pay for Equal Work'.

Tension Looms Again Over Management

The BEST Workers Union has given a clear warning that if concrete decisions are not made on their demands by the BEST administration and Mumbai Municipal Corporation, they will resort to agitation. This warning from the unions has once again created significant tension for the BEST management. A warning has been issued that if the demands are not met, an intense agitation will be launched.
