Against the backdrop of the local self-government elections, the state government has taken a major decision for farmers. A one-year moratorium has been granted on the recovery of loans from farmers. This decision has been taken by the state government for farmers who have been affected by the flood situation. Between June and September, farmers in many districts of the state suffered extensive damage due to floods. Now, the recovery of loans from them has been postponed. Along with this, the state government has also issued orders to restructure cooperative loans.

This decision by the state government will bring great relief to farmers. In many districts of Marathwada, heavy rainfall has caused significant damage. Among these, there has been large-scale destruction of houses, as well as loss of livestock. In such a situation, there were complaints that banks were pressuring farmers in some places for loan recovery. Therefore, the state government has now issued an order to suspend loan recovery.

Loan waiver to happen by June 30

On one hand there was drought, and on the other, excessive rainfall during the monsoon caused farmers in the state to face difficulties. Therefore, there was a continuous demand for farmers to receive loan waivers. Under the leadership of Prahar leader and former MLA Bachchu Kadu, a protest was also held for this cause. Following that, the state government has decided to grant loan waivers to farmers by June 30. A meeting was held between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, both Deputy Chief Ministers, and farmer leaders including Raju Shetti, Mahadev Jankar, Ajit Navale, Ravikant Tupkar, along with Bachchu Kadu. In this meeting, the issue of loan waivers was discussed. The government has promised to implement the loan waiver by June 30. For this, the government has decided to set up a committee. This committee will study the matter and submit a report.
