PM Kisan : Big news for farmers, will PM Kisan Yojana's money double?
Millions of farmers in the country are benefiting from the Prime Minister's Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Farmers are gaining significant advantages from this scheme. However, in recent days, an important question related to this scheme has been a topic of discussion among farmers. There was speculation that the central government would increase the annual amount of this scheme from 6000 rupees to 12000 rupees. This was because, in December 2024, the parliamentary standing committee had recommended giving farmers an annual amount of 12000 rupees. Subsequently, today, MP Sameerul Islam demanded a response from the government on this issue in the Rajya Sabha. The government has now commented on this. Let's get detailed information about it.
Speaking on the question of whether the annual amount of the Prime Minister's Farmer Honor Fund Scheme will be increased from 6000 rupees to 12000 rupees, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur has provided important information. Thakur stated, 'The government is not considering such a proposal.' This means that currently, the government will not double the PM Kisan amount. Therefore, the discussion about doubling the scheme's amount has come to a complete stop.
Is the farmer ID mandatory?
Member of Parliament Sameerul Islam had asked another important question regarding farmers. Is registration of the farmer ID mandatory to receive installments of the PM Kisan scheme? Islam had asked this. Speaking on this, Minister of State Ramnath Thakur said, 'The farmer ID is only necessary for new registrations, but it is not required throughout the country. In the 14 states where the work of creating farmer registrations has already started, this ID is necessary. However, in states where this process has not started, farmers can register to benefit from the scheme even without a farmer ID.
What is the PM Kisan Yojana?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was launched in 2019 to provide financial assistance to farmers. Through this scheme, farmers are given financial aid of 6000 rupees annually. This amount is deposited directly into the farmers' bank accounts in three installments of 2000 rupees each via DBT. However, the benefit of this scheme is given only to farmers with less land. Economically capable farmers are excluded from this.
