This is important information regarding FASTag. Read this news completely. If you have a car and you use FASTag, then this news is important for you. The government has implemented a new rule for car owners across the country, which is called KYV or 'Know Your Vehicle'. This means knowing your vehicle. This rule is necessary because if you do not complete your KYV verification by October 31, your FASTag will be deactivated. Let's provide all the necessary information about what the rule is and why it has been introduced.

In KYC, you need to properly link your FASTag with your car. This is a mandatory process where all FASTag users must prove that their FASTag is linked to the correct vehicle. To ensure the FASTag is linked to the correct car and not used by any other vehicle or truck, you need to upload photos of your vehicle and the registration certificate (RC).

If the use of FASTag is to be continued by all car owners across the country, this task must be completed by October 31. This step has been taken with the aim of preventing misuse in toll collection and increasing transparency.

What happens if KYC is not completed?

From November 1, 2024, KYC has been made mandatory for all FASTag users. According to the new rules, if KYC verification is not completed, the FASTag will be deactivated. In such a situation, car owners will have to pay cash at the toll plaza. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has informed the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which oversees financial transactions related to FASTag toll payments.

Why was KYV introduced?

It was introduced to reduce the misuse of FASTag. Many times, people were keeping the FASTag in their pocket or purse instead of on the windshield. Additionally, there have been incidents of using FASTag on trucks to pay less toll tax. Through KYV, such misuse will be prevented, as each vehicle will have a different FASTag.

How to verify KYV?

KYV verification is mandatory for all FASTag users, regardless of which bank or payment app issued it. For this, you will need to upload the vehicle's registration certificate (RC). Additionally, you will need to upload a photo of the front and side of the vehicle, where the FASTag and number plate are clearly visible. Also, you will need to repeat this process every three times.
