In Brief
BJP Dominant in Bihar,
In How Many States Does BJP Hold Power?
Key States Under BJP Control
The BJP-led NDA alliance has achieved a spectacular victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. In this election, the BJP has emerged as the largest party, while Nitish Kumar's JD(U) party is in second place. The Congress and other parties have suffered a major setback in this election. With the victory in Bihar, the BJP's saffron flag is now seen flying in major states across the country. After the victory in Bihar, we will learn today how many states are under BJP rule and what Prime Minister Narendra Modi's next target is.
Important States Under BJP Control
After the success in the Bihar elections, BJP and NDA are now in power in 18 states and union territories. This includes Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and the northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya. This clearly indicates that the important states in the country are under BJP control.
BJP is not in power in these states
BJP is away from power in some important states like West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Jharkhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Also, BJP has not been able to gain power in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Mizoram, and Sikkim. Some of these states are politically small. BJP is trying to establish power in South India. Here, the strength of DMK, Congress, and other regional parties is greater.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's focus on these states
While addressing the workers and the public after the victory in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, 'Today's victory has energized BJP workers with new energy in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and West Bengal Orissa. The Ganges flows from here and goes to Bengal. Bihar has paved the way for BJP's victory in Bengal. I also tell the citizens of Bengal that now BJP will join you to uproot the jungle raj from West Bengal.' This means Narendra Modi's next target is to gain power in these states.
