According to sources, on January 30, 2026, the BJP's Mayor will officially take charge in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. This decision has accelerated new developments in Mumbai's politics.

The newly elected National President of BJP, Nitin Naveen, will take charge on Tuesday, and on this occasion, many BJP leaders from Mumbai and Maharashtra are currently stationed in Delhi. In this year's Mumbai municipal elections, 89 BJP corporators have been elected. To reach the required majority of 114 seats, BJP needs the support of 29 corporators from the Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
