Buldhana: A Noble Example Set by In-Laws; Widow Remarried and Property Transferred in Her Name
At a time when stories of marital strife and domestic disputes dominate the headlines, a heartwarming and exemplary gesture by a family from Buldhana has captured the attention and admiration of many. The incident comes from Ladnapur taluka’s Sangrampur area in Buldhana district, where Swati, a young woman, lost her husband last year. Instead of forcing her into isolation or burdening her with societal expectations, her in-laws stood firmly by her side. They arranged her remarriage and gifted her a significant share of their property, ensuring her financial security and emotional well-being.
Swati was first married to Jagdish Keshavrao Dhanbhar, a farmer from a respected Sadan family, on July 14, 2013. The couple had two children – Bhakti and Prasad – and lived in a joint farming household. Jagdish managed agricultural land and owned farming equipment, including tractors. Sadly, on August 13, 2023, Jagdish died tragically from an electric shock, plunging the family into grief and uncertainty.
Despite their personal loss, Jagdish’s parents chose compassion and courage. Swati's remarriage was solemnized in the presence of relatives in Akot, Kinkhed, in Purna taluka. On that day, Swati began a new chapter of life, supported wholeheartedly by her late husband's family.
Farmer and father-in-law Keshavrao Dhanbhar not only played a key role in arranging Swati’s remarriage but also legally transferred property in her name. This profound act of kindness is being hailed across the region, reinforcing values of empathy, equality, and women’s dignity. This incident is more than just a personal family story—it is a social milestone. In an age where widows often face stigma and isolation, the Dhanbhar family has shown that love, respect, and acceptance can break even the strongest societal taboos.
