IPL 2025 Final: Airfares Soar as Cricket Fans Flock to Ahmedabad for the Grand Finale
As the country gears up for the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the excitement has reached fever pitch — and so have airfares. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with thousands of cricket fans pouring into the city to witness the grand event.
Operation Sindoor Takes Center Stage
The closing ceremony of the IPL final will feature the theme ‘Operation Sindoor’, a tribute to the Indian armed forces. Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force have been invited to attend the event, and the stadium has been beautifully lit up in the colors of the national tricolor. Renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan will perform live as part of the ceremony.
Sky-High Airfares Amid Fan Frenzy
With cricket fans arriving from across the country, demand for flights to Ahmedabad has surged, causing a massive spike in airfares. On Monday, one-way flight tickets from Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chandigarh to Ahmedabad soared to nearly ₹25,000 — a steep rise compared to the usual fare of ₹3,500 to ₹5,000.
The return fares after the match are even higher. On Wednesday morning, flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru are priced as high as ₹30,000. Out of five flights to Bengaluru before noon, only two still have limited seats available — with fares ranging from ₹12,000 to ₹30,000.
