Devendra Fadnavis Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi: 'The Article Answered Itself'
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly countered recent allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that factual evidence and statistical data have already refuted the claims. Speaking to the media after an event in Pune, Fadnavis dismissed the Congress MP’s remarks, saying, “The article has answered the article itself, and it is supported by statistics. Hopefully, Rahul Gandhi will now be more careful while speaking or writing.” Taking a harsher jab at Gandhi, Fadnavis added, “Rahul Gandhi has consistently made such mistakes throughout his life. There was dust on his face, but he kept wiping the mirror instead,” in a metaphorical critique suggesting misplaced blame and self-awareness.
Maharashtra’s Renewable Energy Milestones
During the interaction, Fadnavis highlighted the state’s progress in renewable energy, stating that Maharashtra has made remarkable strides in solar, wind, and hydro energy. “The state has now taken off in the field of renewables,” he said, praising the administration’s efforts to embrace sustainable energy alternatives.
Dismisses Saamana’s Criticism of PM Modi
Fadnavis also dismissed recent criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi published in Saamana, the Shiv Sena’s party mouthpiece. He remarked, “This criticism holds no significance. The newspaper Saamana carried weight during the era of Hindu Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray. Today, it lacks the importance it once had.”
Clarification on ‘Ladki Bahin’ Scheme Funding
Responding to allegations that funds from the Social and Backward Classes Department had been diverted to the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme, Fadnavis offered a firm denial. “As per constitutional provisions, departmental funds are spent under their designated heads. No funds have been diverted,” he said. He further noted that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar had already clarified the matter, emphasizing that “a separate fund has been allocated for the Ladki Bahin scheme.”
Support for Marathi Literature Conference
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to cultural events, Fadnavis assured support for the upcoming 99th All India Marathi Literary Conference to be held in Satara. He emphasized the importance of promoting literary and cultural forums and pledged continued government backing for such initiatives.
Firm Stand Amid Political Criticism
Throughout the press conference, Fadnavis maintained a strong and assertive stance on multiple issues, responding to criticism from political opponents with direct and detailed rebuttals. His remarks come amid growing political exchanges in the state ahead of key policy decisions and upcoming elections.
