Today Maghi Ganeshotsav is celebrated. This day is of special importance as it is associated with the birth of Lord Ganesha. Due to this festival occurring in the month of Magh, it is called Maghi Ganeshotsav. According to mythology, on this day, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from her body. Therefore, this day is considered the birthday of Bappa.

There is a tradition of bringing Ganpati home for Maghi Ganeshotsav. However, this festival is different from the Ganesh Chaturthi in Bhadrapada. Ganesh Chaturthi means enthusiasm, processions, and a grand celebration; whereas Maghi Ganeshotsav is a quiet, devotional, and meditative festival. During this time, more importance is given to worship, devotion, and spiritual practice.

Although Maghi Ganeshotsav is short-lived, it carries a deep sense of faith and spirituality. People believe that in Bhadrapada, Lord Ganesh comes as a guest to the homes of devotees. In Konkan, Bappa is considered a guest who arrives before the arrival of Gauri. Lokmanya Tilak gave Ganesh Chaturthi a public form, and today it has become an identity of Mumbai. However, Maghi Ganeshotsav is still celebrated as a festival of devotion, faith, and peace.
