Following this, the Election Commission has ordered all district collectors to remove duplicate names from the voter lists. However, considering the time required for this process, the State Election Commission has written a letter to the Central Commission requesting an extension until October 15 for the registration of new voters and the removal of duplicate voter names from the lists.

Meanwhile, two weeks have passed since the state election commission's request letter. The central election commission has not yet responded to it. This raises questions about when the voter lists will be updated and when the elections for local self-government bodies will be held thereafter. On the other hand, Raj Thackeray has also become aggressive, stating that elections should not be held in Maharashtra until the voter list is clean.
