Western Railway : Good News for Mumbaikars! 12 New AC Locals to Run on Western Railway
Western Railway has made an important decision to further strengthen and make the suburban railway service, known as the lifeline of Mumbaikars, more commuter-centric. Starting from February 19, 12 additional AC local trains will be introduced on the Western Railway route. In addition, three new non-AC local services will also be added. This decision will provide great relief to the millions of Mumbaikars who travel by local trains daily.
According to the press release issued by the Western Railway's public relations department, out of the 12 AC locals to be started, 11 trains will replace the currently running non-AC locals, while one new AC local service will be started independently. The railway administration has clarified that this decision has been taken considering the growing popularity of AC locals and the positive response from passengers.
Due to this increase, the number of AC locals on the Western Railway route will directly rise from 121 to 133. Additionally, the total number of local services will increase from 1410 to 1414. The main objective behind this decision is to reduce crowding and provide passengers with a safer and more comfortable travel experience, as stated by the administration.
Notably, there has been a significant increase in AC local services running on Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, 77 AC locals were being operated on holidays; however, this number has now been increased to 106. This will provide a more convenient and comfortable travel option for citizens traveling on holidays.
Additionally, the current Bandra to Bhayandar local service will now start from Virar. This change will provide better connectivity for passengers in the Virar area and save their travel time. It has been clarified that this decision was made considering the growing population and increasing settlements in the suburbs.
The importance of local trains in Mumbai's daily life is unparalleled. Every day, millions of passengers depend on these services. Therefore, increasing services, reducing crowding, and including modern amenities have become the need of the hour. The increase in AC local services reflects Western Railway's commitment to its passengers.
Overall, this decision by Western Railway will make the local travel of Mumbaikars safer, more comfortable, and time-saving. In the coming days, passengers will directly benefit from these new services, and it is expected that the travel experience will become more positive.
