Great News for Konkan Residents! This Route Finally Gains Momentum; Major Announcement by Nitesh Rane
The central government has made substantial provisions in this year's budget for the development of Konkan, bringing good news for the people of Konkan. The long-pending Kolhapur-Vaibhavwadi railway line will finally gain momentum, and this project will soon be realized, as informed by Sindhudurg's Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane.
Speaking at a press conference held at the 'Om Ganesh' residence in Kankavli, Minister Rane stated that for this ambitious railway project costing 6,500 crore rupees, the central and state governments will bear 50-50 percent of the expenses. For this, a provision of 3,244 crore rupees has been made in the budget.
Railway line to be completed by 2028
The land acquisition process for the Kolhapur–Vaibhavwadi railway line is planned to start from February 1, with the goal of completing this project by 2028. This railway line will directly connect Konkan with western Maharashtra, thereby giving a significant boost to trade, industry, and tourism.
This railway line will also accelerate the development of Vijaydurg and Devgad ports, said Minister Rane. He expressed confidence that the youth of Konkan will directly benefit from this, and many young people who went outside for employment will return to their villages.
‘Double engine’ government strengthens Konkan's development
Due to the ‘double engine’ government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the center, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of the state, and Union Minister Narayan Rane, a large amount of funds has been made available for the development of Konkan, Nitesh Rane clarified.

Water Transport and Seaplane Project for Tourism
In order to boost tourism, provisions have been made in the budget for strengthening the water transport system as well as for seaplane services. This will make Konkan more prominently visible on the tourism map.
Instructions to Accelerate Radio Club Jetty Work
Meanwhile, clear instructions have been given by Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane to complete the jetty work near Bombay Presidency Radio Club within the stipulated time frame. In a meeting held at the ministry, he emphasized completing the jetty work quickly and starting the water taxi service for citizens.
Overall, it is clear that decisions in the fisheries, horticulture, and tourism sectors, along with the Kolhapur Vaibhavwadi railway line, will give a new direction to the development of Konkan.
