BMC Election 2026: Voting for 29 municipal corporations in the state, including Mumbai Municipal Corporation, will take place on January 15, 2026. In this context, a public holiday has been declared in Mumbai on that day. The government has made this decision to encourage maximum citizens to vote.

This holiday will apply to all government offices, banks, private companies, shops, malls, factories, and IT companies in Mumbai. Notably, employees who are voters in Mumbai but work in Thane, Navi Mumbai, or Palghar will also be able to avail of this holiday.

In essential services where a full day off is not possible, it is mandatory to give employees at least a few hours off to vote. If any establishment denies leave or concession, citizens can file a complaint. The administration has appealed that no one should be deprived of voting in this democratic process.
