The headmaster Kumud alias Deepak (40), who was on the run for four months after shooting and killing his girlfriend's younger sister out of suspicion that she was a hindrance to his marriage, has finally been apprehended by the police. After his arrest, he confessed to the crime in front of the police. According to the police, Kumud was adamant about marrying his girlfriend. However, her younger sister, Gudiya, was opposing this relationship. In a fit of rage, on August 11, Kumud shot Gudiya in the head while she was on her way to coaching, killing her. After the murder, he was also contemplating killing his girlfriend, but fled the scene fearing capture.

After the crime, the accused fled from Bihar to Khagaria and then to Guwahati. There, he changed his appearance by cutting his hair and beard and rented a house on Jyotinagar RPF Colony Road. Despite the landlord repeatedly asking for identification, Kumud kept avoiding it. Suspicious, the landlord informed the police. During the investigation, his true identity was revealed.

The Samastipur police conducted a search operation in Guwahati for 10 days and arrested the accused with the help of local police. On Wednesday, he was brought to Samastipur and sent to jail, and he will be taken on remand for further questioning.

Gudiya was the daughter of Vinay Kumar and was preparing for D.L.Ed. After her murder, angry citizens set fire to the private school in Baheri where the accused was teaching.
