Ladki Bahin Yojana: important and major update on Ladki Bahin Yojana
An important and major update has emerged regarding the state government's ambitious 'Ladki Bahin' scheme. Women benefiting from this scheme are now required to complete the KYC process. If eligible women do not complete the KYC within the stipulated time, the monthly installment credited to their account may be stopped.
The purpose of this scheme, started for the economic self-reliance of women, is to provide direct financial assistance to women from needy families. Women from families with an annual income of less than two and a half lakh rupees and who do not have a four-wheeler vehicle in the name of anyone in the family are given 1500 rupees directly into their bank accounts every month. Millions of women across the state are benefiting from this scheme.
However, recently shocking information has come to light in the government's investigation. Many ineligible women, who have a stable income or have government employees in their family, have also been found to have taken advantage of this scheme. Therefore, the government has made the KYC process mandatory to prevent unauthorized access to the scheme and to verify eligible beneficiaries.
Women will need to update documents that prove their identity and eligibility. The next installment of one and a half thousand rupees for beneficiaries who do not complete KYC will be stopped, as clearly instructed by the administration.
Meanwhile, the deadline to complete KYC has been set for November 18, 2025. This means eligible beneficiaries have only eight days left. The government has appealed to citizens, “If you want to continue receiving the benefits of the scheme uninterrupted, complete the KYC process as soon as possible.”
This decision is expected to somewhat reduce the financial burden on the government's treasury, and ensure that only truly eligible women benefit from this scheme. Although the government has taken a significant step towards women's economic empowerment through the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, this new decision taken for transparency is currently a topic of discussion.
