Insult to Great Leaders in the Name of Campaigning? Thackeray Group's Strong Attack on BJP Over the Program in Ward 157 of Mumbai
As the winds of municipal elections in the state heat up, the methods used for campaigning are now intensifying political conflict. A major controversy has arisen due to a campaign event in Ward No. 157 in Mumbai, with the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) becoming aggressive, alleging that women were made to dance in front of images of great leaders.
Blankets were being distributed to senior citizens at an event organized for BJP candidate Ashatai Tayde's campaign. However, the controversy erupted due to the dance program linked to this event. Videos of a dance program by women, with the backdrop of images of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, have gone viral on social media.
“Is this a campaign method or a decline of culture?”
On this incident, Thackeray group's young leader Akhil Chitre has directly criticized the BJP. Expressing anger on social media, he has said,
“After watching this video, anyone's blood would boil. In the frenzy of gathering crowds for campaigning, the BJP has lost even the basic awareness that there are images of our great leaders behind.”
Chitre has clearly questioned, “In the presence of great leaders, making women dance, what kind of campaign culture is this? Where is Maharashtra heading when power goes to the head?”
Who is the organizer? Direct question from the Thackeray group
The Thackeray group has also pointed fingers at the organization of this event. According to Akhil Chitre,
the organizer of this event is Pawan Tripathi, who has been appointed as the treasurer of the Siddhivinayak Trust by the BJP. "Didn't the BJP feel ashamed to appoint people with such a mentality to the board of trustees of the sacred temple?" he has directly questioned.
Warning to BJP leadership as well
In this matter, the Thackeray group has not limited itself to local workers but has also tagged BJP Mumbai President and Minister Ashish Shelar on social media to question them. "Did this incident happen with BJP's knowledge or due to negligence?" this question has also been raised.
“Time to Bring Down the Arrogance of Power”
Akhil Chitre has appealed to Mumbaikars, saying, “Such disrespect to great personalities should not be tolerated. Those who behave arrogantly in power are given the right rebuke through elections.”
Signs of Rising Political Temperature
This issue has sparked a new debate on culture, values, and political ethics in the Mumbai election campaign. All eyes are now on how the BJP responds to these allegations. However, the question of how the images of great personalities should be used in the name of campaigning has once again come to the forefront.
