After Pune, Another Shocking News: Woman Dies in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Hospital
Even as the recent incident in Pune continues to raise concerns, a similar tragic event has now surfaced in Kalyan-Dombivli. A woman admitted to the Shakti Dham Hospital, run by the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), has died following a family planning operation.
According to initial reports, the woman had undergone a routine sterilization procedure at the hospital. Post-surgery, she was administered an injection of bhuli (a common anesthetic). Soon after the injection, her health began to deteriorate rapidly.
As her condition worsened, the hospital staff attempted to shift her to a private hospital for further treatment. However, she tragically passed away en route. It has since come to light that the Shakti Dham Hospital, primarily a maternity facility, does not have an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) — a critical gap in infrastructure that may have contributed to the outcome.
The woman's grieving family, including her husband, has alleged medical negligence and held the hospital's doctors responsible for her death. They are demanding accountability and a thorough investigation into the incident.
This development has sparked outrage among locals and further amplified concerns over healthcare facilities and practices in municipal hospitals, especially in the wake of similar recent events in Pune.
