A few days before the state assembly elections, the beloved sister scheme was launched, which was seen to be quite popular among women. It was observed that this scheme greatly benefited the grand alliance during the assembly elections. Leaders of the grand alliance had also promised to give 2100 rupees to the beneficiary women of this scheme during the election campaign. However, no decision has been made about it yet, and still, only fifteen hundred rupees are being deposited into the women's bank accounts every month under this scheme. Meanwhile, it has come to light that this scheme is putting a significant strain on the government treasury. Therefore, the government has now made e-KYC mandatory for this scheme. Women who do not complete the KYC may have their names removed from the scheme.

It has come to light that many women are availing the benefits of this scheme despite not being eligible, prompting the government to decide on KYC. Meanwhile, the deadline for KYC is November 18. With only three days left for KYC, it has emerged that a whopping 1.3 crore women have not yet completed their KYC, as reported by Navbharat Times. According to this report, the total number of beneficiary women under this scheme in the state is 2.35 crore, out of which 1.3 crore women still have their KYC pending. Therefore, it is now being reported that the government is once again preparing to extend the KYC deadline for this scheme. A major announcement regarding this is likely to be made soon, providing significant relief to the beneficiary women of this scheme.

Meanwhile, local self-government elections are currently underway in the state. The Election Commission has announced the elections for municipal councils and municipal panchayats. Immediately after that, municipal corporation elections will also be held in the state. Therefore, it has come to light that the government will not take any strict decision regarding this scheme until these elections. Hence, there is a discussion that even though some women are ineligible for this scheme, their names will not be removed from the scheme for now.
