Ladki Bahin Yojana: Will 8 Lakh Women Receive Only ₹500? Aditi Tatkare said...
Controversy has erupted over reports that around 8 lakh women beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will receive only ₹500 instead of the promised ₹1500 per month. The reports have triggered political debates and raised widespread questions regarding the eligibility criteria and implementation of the scheme.
Clarification from Aditi Tatkare
State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare took to social media to clarify the government's position. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tatkare explained that, as per government decisions dated June 28, 2024, and July 3, 2024, women not availing any other government financial assistance are receiving ₹1500 per month under the Ladki Bahin Yojana.
She added that women who are already benefiting from other schemes with a total assistance amount of less than ₹1500 are being compensated for the remaining difference under this program.
“In accordance with the same government decision, 7,74,148 women who are currently receiving ₹1000 per month under the Namo Shetkari Samman Yojana are also being given ₹500 under the Ladki Bahin scheme,” Tatkare stated.
“No Eligible Woman Has Been Excluded”
Tatkare also emphasized that no eligible sister has been excluded from the scheme and that there has been no change in the scheme’s implementation since July 3, 2024.
“I have already clarified this in detail during the budget session of the state legislature, and my explanation is recorded in the official proceedings,” she said.
Accuses Opposition of Spreading Misinformation
Lashing out at the opposition, Tatkare accused them of deliberately spreading misinformation about the scheme. “Those constantly questioning the Ladki Bahin Yojana either lack a basic understanding of administration or are rattled by the scheme’s overwhelming success,” she remarked.
“I am confident that my beloved sisters will not fall prey to such false propaganda. The facts are clear, and the government's commitment to women’s welfare remains unchanged,” she asserted.
