  • Air travel, i.e., airplane travel, will become expensive

  • Several changes related to UPI

September has ended and from today the 10th month, October, has begun. Many major changes (Rule Change From 1 October) have been implemented with the start of this new month, effective from 1 October 2025, which are applicable from the first day. Among these, oil companies have shocked consumers by increasing the prices of LPG cylinders, while on the other hand, rules related to UPI have also changed. These changes will affect every household and everyone's pocket.

The beginning of each month comes with several small and large changes, including financial ones. October has started similarly, and from October 1st, many things have changed for the common man, from UPI to Indian railway travel. During the festive season, the increase in LPG prices has shocked consumers, while Indian Railways has also changed the rules for online railway ticket booking, which will affect railway passengers.

LPG Cylinder Becomes Expensive

Among the changes happening from October 1st, the most important change is the price of gas. The most attention is on the change in the price of LPG cylinders, as it is directly related to the kitchen budget. In the past few months, oil marketing companies had reduced the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders, but on the first day of October, there has been an increase, and it has become more expensive from Delhi to Mumbai. According to the IOCL website, the price of the cylinder in Delhi has been increased by 15 rupees and will now be 1595 rupees instead of 1580. In Kolkata, this price has increased from 1684 rupees to 1700 rupees. In Mumbai, the price of a 19 kg cylinder was 1531 rupees, and now it has become 1547 rupees, while in Chennai, the price has increased from 1738 rupees to 1754 rupees. However, the price of the 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been maintained.

Air travel, that is, air travel will become expensive

There has been a development related to air travelers on the first day of October, as after a reduction in aviation fuel in September, during the festive season, companies have now made a significant increase in ATF prices. In Delhi, its price has increased from 90,713.52 rupees per kiloliter to 93,766.02 rupees per kiloliter. In Kolkata, it has increased from 93,886.18 rupees to 96,816.58 rupees per kiloliter, in Mumbai from 84,832.83 rupees to 87,714.39 rupees per kiloliter, and in Chennai, it has increased from 94,151.96 rupees to 97,302.14 rupees. With the increase in aviation turbine fuel prices, the operating costs of airlines will increase, which may lead them to raise air ticket prices.

Which passengers have access to online tickets?

The third change will apply to railway passengers. Indian Railways announced changes in the rules to prevent ticket booking fraud from October 1, 2025, which may be implemented from today. Under this, only those who have already completed Aadhaar verification will be able to book online tickets in the first 15 minutes after reservations open. This rule will apply to both the IRCTC website and app. Currently, this rule is applicable for Tatkal bookings. However, no changes have been made for those purchasing tickets from computerized PRS counters.

Changes Related to UPI

The beginning of October is bringing significant changes for Unified Payments Interface or UPI users. In a circular dated July 29, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) shared information that it will remove one of the most used UPI features, the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) collect transaction, and this will be implemented from October 1, 2025. This step is being taken to strengthen user security and prevent financial fraud, and hence this feature is being removed from UPI apps.
