BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar Faces Backlash for Controversial Remarks on Youth and Government Aid

Lonikar's Remarks on Youth Spark Outrage and Demand for Apology

BJP MLA Babanrao Lonikar has once again stirred controversy with his sharp and provocative remarks. While addressing a gathering, Lonikar lashed out at youth who criticize the government and its leaders on social media.

In his speech, Lonikar said,

“Some empty-headed youngsters sitting on the roadside write on social media that I am a blind devotee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.” He further added, “The salary of your mother and the pension of your father have been paid because of Babanrao Lonikar. Prime Minister Modi has given your father ₹6,000 for sowing. Your clothes, shoes, even your mobile phone are all because of what the government has provided. And yet you criticize us?”

These remarks, perceived as demeaning and arrogant, have drawn sharp criticism from political opponents and netizens alike. Many have called the comments disrespectful towards citizens, especially towards the youth and farmers, who are already grappling with unemployment and agricultural distress.

This is not the first time Lonikar has faced backlash for his statements. His repeated controversial remarks have often embarrassed the BJP leadership and sparked heated debates in Maharashtra’s political circles.

Opposition leaders have demanded an apology, calling his comments “insensitive, entitled, and unbecoming of a public representative.”

As the video clip of the speech goes viral, questions are being raised once again about the accountability of elected leaders and their language towards the public.
