Manoj Jarange: High Court Shock to Manoj Jarange's Protest, No March Without Permission
Activist Manoj Jarange, who has been raising his voice for Maratha reservation for many months, has received a major setback from the Bombay High Court. Against the backdrop of the proposed march and hunger strike in Mumbai, the court clarified that Jarange cannot conduct any protest program without prior permission from the relevant authorities.
The court clarified its stance on the grounds that the issue of law and order could become serious during the Ganeshotsav period. The bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep Marne expressed the opinion that in a democracy, everyone has the right to express dissent, but it should be done only at designated places and with permission.
Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's special officer Rajendra Sable Patil visited Jarange at Antarwali Sarati in Jalna district and requested him to postpone the agitation until the end of Ganeshotsav. However, Jarange warned the government to grant 10% reservation to the Maratha community under the OBC category by August 26, otherwise, they would have to resort to intense agitation.
Now, due to the High Court's order, there is increased uncertainty regarding Jarange's march to Mumbai and the hunger strike at Azad Maidan. Everyone is focused on what form the agitation will take in the coming days.
