(Champion Ajinkya Naik in the MCA election fray) The election for the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has finally concluded without any opposition, and Ajinkya Naik has once again assumed the presidency. Until the last moment, a contest was expected between Prasad Lad, Jitendra Awhad, Vihang Sarnaik, and Ajinkya Naik. However, with everyone suddenly withdrawing, Naik's victory was assured.

In this context, the statement made by former president Sharad Pawar proved decisive. "Politics should not be brought into cricket, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis adheres to this," Pawar had said. It is being said in political circles that this 'googly' changed the entire complexion of the election.

Ajinkya Naik thanked Sharad Pawar and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis after the selection. On the eve of the election, after discussions between Pawar and Fadnavis at the 'Varsha' residence, the main candidates withdrew their nominations. As a result, the election on November 12 was avoided, and the path for Naik's unopposed selection was eased. By setting aside political differences, Pawar and Fadnavis once again joined hands 'for cricket,' leading to Ajinkya Naik's victory on the MCA field.
