More than 1 lakh schools across the state will be inspected; current situation will be revealed
A detailed look at the facilities available and lacking in schools in the Zilla Parishad and urban areas, which shape the future of students in the state, is now about to be revealed. The education department has been given a jolt after the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Bench of the Bombay High Court ordered the education department to provide basic facilities in accordance with a suo moto petition.
To implement this order, the government has constituted a state-level committee, and as per the directives given by the committee on April 9, as many as 1,08,173 schools in the state will be inspected. This inspection will be carried out from April 11 to May 15. Under this campaign, each district has to send a report based on the situation in its respective area to Sharad Gosavi, Director of Education (Primary), Pune.
Who will conduct the inspection? How will the inspection be conducted?
The responsibilities of the Center Head for Zilla Parishad schools in rural areas, and for schools in cities, have been determined as Supervisors, Extension Officers, Assistant Administrative Officers, Municipal and Municipal Administrative Officers, and Group Education Officers.
At least two schools inspected by these officials will be re-inspected independently by a district-level committee. This will involve an objective scrutiny of previous reports and a physical inspection of the current status of each school.
Will students get 'real' facilities?
The real question is whether all these reports will move towards real implementation rather than just paper. However, with the intervention of the court and the strict stance of the committee, parents and teachers are hopeful that this year's inspection will not be limited to a mere formality.
