"Mumbai Municipal Corporation in Control..." Chandrakant Khaire's Major Statement on Thackeray Brothers' Alliance
After the announcement of local self-government elections in the state, political discussions have gained momentum. Particularly, the potential alliance between Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has become a hot topic. Recently, the appearance of Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray on the same platform at an anti-government event over the trilingual formula has further fueled these discussions. In this context, senior leader of the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction, Chandrakant Khaire, has made a significant statement, heating up the political atmosphere even more.
Khair said that if Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray come together, it is possible to regain power in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He claimed, “Only if both brothers come together can the Mumbai Municipal Corporation be taken over. There are no disputes about this. Because Mumbai belongs to Balasaheb Thackeray. It was saved due to his leadership. Otherwise, many would have tried to take over Mumbai.”
Khair further alleged that both the central government and the previous Congress government have tried to gain control over Mumbai. However, the Marathi people still look to Marathi leadership, he said. Speaking about the alliance talks, Khair said that if you want to win the election, you have to compromise in some places. “The current times are difficult. Even though our party is in downfall, if we do not come together and fight, BJP will again dominate,” he clarified.
He also criticized the Congress. “Congress has still not decided on the alliance. If they think they will become stronger by fighting independently, then how many seats did they contest and win in Bihar? They got only one seat. Even though Rahul Gandhi accused them of vote theft, it had no effect,” said Khair. Due to Khair's statement, a new discussion has started about whether the Shiv Sena Thackeray faction and MNS will actually form an alliance. Everyone is now focused on whether Uddhav and Raj will come together and what impact it will have on the Mumbai municipal elections.
