Auto Rickshaw Theft : A major racket of rickshaw theft has been uncovered in the Kurar area of Mumbai, and the police have arrested two accused in this case, seizing as many as seven stolen rickshaws. A serious warning has emerged for those using rickshaws in Mumbai. It has come to light that a large network of rickshaw theft is active in the jurisdiction of Kurar Police Station, and two key members of this gang, a rickshaw driver and a mechanic, have been caught in the police net.
Police investigation revealed that the accused were putting fake number plates on the stolen rickshaws and renting them out in the city. As a result, ordinary passengers had no inkling that these rickshaws were stolen.
In recent months, rickshaw theft incidents have rapidly increased in the Kurar area. Due to frequent complaints, the police became alert and started an investigation. Using confidential information and technical tools, they finally succeeded in capturing two individuals.
When the police interrogated the two arrested individuals, shocking information came to light. The police seized seven stolen rickshaws from them, all of which were being operated on the road with fake number plates.
Senior Inspector Sanjeev Tawde of Kurar Police Station stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine how many more people are involved in this case. He has urged Mumbaikars to remain vigilant to curb incidents of rickshaw theft. He mentioned that it is necessary to check the rickshaw's number and the driver's photo or identification before boarding. Remember the rickshaw's number while traveling. If possible, start your journey only after checking the driver's identification. Report any unfamiliar or suspicious rickshaws to the nearest police station.
