Allegation of Defective Draft List
The draft voter lists for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections have been announced by the corporation. However, there is a direct allegation from Thackeray's Shiv Sena that there is a mess in this voter list. The names that were in the voter list for the assembly have been moved to another voter list for the municipal elections. In many places, names have been placed in different lists. It is alleged that the name of Suraj Chavan, a close associate of Aditya Thackeray, is in a different voter list, while the names of voters from the building where he resides are in another voter list. All the office bearers, department heads, and branch heads of Thackeray's Shiv Sena are checking these lists. Aditya Thackeray is soon going to the Election Commission next week with these bundles of defective voter lists, taking up this confusion in the draft voter list.
Increase in Voters in Mumbai
There has been a significant increase in the number of voters in Mumbai and the surrounding metropolitan areas including Thane. This raises the question of which party will benefit from the increased number of voters in the upcoming municipal elections. Draft voter lists for various municipal elections, including those in Mumbai and Thane, were released on Thursday. Compared to the municipal elections held in 2017, Mumbai has seen an increase of 1,180,191 voters this year. In Thane, the number of voters has increased by 421,261.
