The Indian team had requested that the trophy be presented by the Vice President of the Emirates Cricket Board. However, ignoring this, Mohsin Naqvi took the trophy himself and stayed at his hotel. This behavior further escalated the controversy. Subsequently, Naqvi was also given an ultimatum by the BCCI. The BCCI had demanded that Mohsin Naqvi present the Asia Cup trophy to Team India.

However, Mohsin Naqvi has responded to the BCCI's warning, disregarding their request. According to sources from the Asian Cricket Council, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla, and board members from other countries including Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, wrote a letter to Mohsin Naqvi last week requesting that the Asia Cup trophy be awarded to Team India.

In response, Naqvi said, "If the BCCI wishes, they can send any of their players to the presentation ceremony in Pakistan to accept the trophy." This response has caused dissatisfaction among Indians. The BCCI has already made it clear that neither the BCCI nor any member of Team India will accept the trophy from Naqvi.

The BCCI has expressed a desire to send a representative to Dubai to collect the trophy. On the other hand, Mohsin Naqvi is firm on his stance. The Asia Cup trophy is currently kept at the ACC office in Dubai. A decision regarding the trophy is likely to be made at the ICC meeting.
