Chitra Kishor Wagh : Only promises to Dabbawalas, but actual help from BJP; Chitra Wagh's attack on Uddhav Thackeray

The authentic and globally renowned 'Dabbawala' brand of Mumbai has been an identity of the city for many decades. However, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray only made empty promises regarding the issues of these dabbawalas, alleged BJP leader Chitra Wagh. She claimed that while there was politics over the name of the dabbawalas, it was the BJP government that made decisions that actually brought changes in their lives.

Chitra Wagh said, “Even after being in power for so many years, what exactly did Uddhav Thackeray do for the Marathi dabbawalas is a question that remains unanswered. They only received hollow promises. In contrast, Devendra Fadnavis approved a direct fund of five crore rupees for this true brand of Mumbai and demonstrated actual work.”

Chitra Wagh highlighted that an international experience center has been established at 'Dabbewala Bhavan' to honor the dabbawalas and to pass on their legacy to the next generation. Not only this, but she also informed that a housing plan has been devised for the dabbawalas, considering their residential issues, and the process has been initiated through MMRDA.

“If you want to preserve the Marathi identity and its brand, concrete decisions are necessary, not just announcements. Devendra Fadnavis has demonstrated this through action,” said Chitra Wagh, indirectly criticizing the Thackeray faction. She claimed that the Mahayuti government is the government in the interest of the Marathi people and is also sensitive to the issues of the dabbawalas.

This statement once again shows signs of increasing accusations and counter-accusations in the state's politics over the issue of dabbawalas. The question of who exactly holds the honor and future of this historic service system of Mumbai safely in their hands has once again come into discussion.
