The country's much-awaited central budget is soon to be presented in Parliament, and the confusion regarding the budget date this year has finally been resolved. For many years, the central budget has been presented on February 1st in the country. However, this year, since February 1st is a Sunday, there was uncertainty about whether the parliamentary session would be held on that day. Against this backdrop, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has clarified the position, putting an end to all discussions.

Speaking at the press conference organized in connection with the Commonwealth Countries Speakers' Conference, Om Birla stated that the Union Budget will be presented on Sunday, February 1, and there will be no holiday on that day. He also urged all MPs to be present for the budget presentation. His announcement made it clear that the Parliament will be operational on Sunday as well. Earlier, the central government had announced that the Parliament session would be held in two phases. The first phase will be from January 28 to February 13, while the second phase will run from March 9 to April 2. The budget will be presented on February 1 during this first phase.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also commented on the traditions of Parliament at this time. “The proceedings of Parliament always prioritize public interest and national interest. If there is important work for the country, even the holidays of Parliament are canceled,” he clarified. He stated that since presenting the budget is an important step in the country's economic policy direction, there is no problem in convening Parliament on Sunday.

Meanwhile, there is curiosity across the country regarding the Union Budget 2026. This budget will place special emphasis on the 'Make in India 2.0' initiative, with an expected presentation of a concrete roadmap to make India a global manufacturing hub. A new incentive package of 23,000 crore rupees is to be announced, and the scope of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme will be expanded. The main objective of this policy is to increase domestic production in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors, auto components, and capital goods. These decisions are expected to boost indigenous industries and create large-scale employment opportunities.

Therefore, all eyes are now on February 1st, and the entire nation is focused on what new momentum the Union Budget, to be presented in Parliament on Sunday, will give to the country's economic direction. This budget presentation in Parliament on Sunday is not only expected to be an exception to tradition but is also anticipated to be an important chapter in the country's economic history.
