Baramati : Peace in Baramati on the Day of District Council–Panchayat Samiti Results; Decision to Avoid Celebration Due to Ajit Pawar's Demise
As the results of the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections are being announced today, the Nationalist Congress Party has made an important decision not to celebrate any victory in Baramati in the wake of the sudden demise of the state's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. As the results are being announced in a mournful atmosphere, clear instructions have been given to the workers to maintain restraint and to conduct all programs simply.
Ajit Pawar was considered the leader, identity, and political stalwart of Baramati. His demise has shaken not only the NCP but the entire Baramati taluka and the state. In such sensitive times, it would not be appropriate to celebrate the election victory, as expressed by the senior leadership of the party. Therefore, after the results are announced, there is a prohibition on celebrating with fireworks, processions, drums, banners, or on social media.
Local officials of the Nationalist Congress Party have urged workers to maintain peace, regardless of the outcome, in memory of the late leader. “This is a time for introspection, not celebration,” party leaders have clarified. Sources have informed that only black flags, condolence meetings, and tribute programs will be held at the party offices.
Meanwhile, district council and panchayat committee elections are considered the backbone of rural politics. Baramati taluka is known as the stronghold of the Nationalist Congress Party. Therefore, the entire state is focused on these results. However, this time it seems that human emotions are more important than political calculations. In many villages, activists and citizens have spontaneously decided to avoid celebrations.
This decision has also been welcomed by political opponents. “It is necessary to show sensitivity by setting aside politics in times of grief,” is the reaction expressed by leaders of various parties. In Baramati, the police administration has also been instructed to remain alert and precautions are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents.
It has been clarified that victory posts will not be posted from the official handles of the Nationalist Congress Party on social media. Activists are also urged to maintain restraint on a personal level. The party's group leaders said, “Although the results are a festival of democracy, today is a day to express grief.”
Overall, in the sea of grief created by the demise of Ajit Pawar, Baramati has set an example of political maturity and social sensitivity today. Instead of celebration, the message of tribute and peace is being sent from Baramati to the entire state.
